Post-Conflict Peace Support: A Field-Based Perspective of Multi-Dimensional United Nations Mechanisms

Lecture delivered on 16 May 2016 for "PACS6901 United Nations, Peace and Security" taught at the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, the University of Sydney.

In this session students will gain a practical and field-based understanding of how the UN carries out its post-conflict support and mandate on the ground. This is illustrated through examining the mandate, structure, operation, coordination and coherence of UN’s peacekeeping, political and development assistance in the field. From these examples students will learn about the issues and challenges that confront the UN’s post-conflict assistance.

Kevin Chang is a Visiting Scholar in Peace and Conflict at the University of Sydney and a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory. He was based in Yangon, Myanmar at the time of delivering this lecture on 16 May 2016.
