Rina, bilateral BK amputee, back on two (prosthetic) feet! |
|
Rina arrived at POA two weeks ago, anxious to get back on her feet again after deciding to have her second foot amputated in December. Although she had been a single leg amputee for many years, adapting to life, literally, "without a leg to stand on," was a big adjustment. This girl, motivated to get back to her active life (and running blades!) was out of the paraellel bars in two days, walking with a cane for a few days after that, and ditched the cane within a week. By the time Rina and her family headed back home to Texas, she was walking tall (she "grew" a few inches) and with confidence! In another month or two we'll get started on those running blades, Rina!
