Firefighters and locals battle snow in Rosenau, Austria |
|
Miraculously all guests were evacuated safely from the hotel in Balderschwang, but about 1,100 people are unable to leave the village due to an avalanche risk on the roads. A state of emergency was in force across parts of Europe last night, after more than 3m of snow fell in 48 hours in some areas of the Alps. More snow is expected today.
