The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) is a leading national research institute for biomedicine in Berlin, Germany. It is a member of the Helmholtz Association - the largest science organisation in Germany with a community of 18 research centres covering a broad range of scientific-technical and biological-medical disciplines.

With an emphasis on molecular medicine - a broad, cross-disciplinary research field that connects fundamental discoveries in the laboratory with medical practice - the MDC aims to develop new strategies and therapies to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of major human diseases.

MDC research is focused on four major disease areas: cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, cancer, diseases of the nervous system, and medical systems biology. This is a cross-disciplinary approach that addresses whole biological systems in an attempt to better understand the biology of health and disease.

The MDC is an international community of around 1600 people, from more than 50 countries, working in more than 60 independent research groups, and including over 350 students. This series of short films, started in 2012, profiles some of their work.
