While Kamal Amrohi’s magnum opus PAKEEZAH completes 51 years of its release on 4 February 2023, we present the ‘Anmol Ratna’ from Pakeezah’s several musical gems in the finale episode of your favourite series ANMOL RATNA. ‘Pakeezah’ which took 14 years to complete has become immortal because of Ghulam Mohammad’s melodious score and Meena Kumari’s magnificent presence. While Ghulam Mohammed passed away in 1968 leaving behind the background score & theme music for Naushad, Meena Kumari passed away on 31st March 1972, just a few weeks after its release.

15 songs were recorded for ‘Pakeezah’ but only 6 were shot & kept in the film. And each song turned out to be an absolute gem! Penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, Kaifi Azmi, Kamal Amrohi & Kaif Bhopali, the film had 5 solos by Lata Mangeshkar & 1 duet by Rafi & Lata. ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Inhi Logo Ne’& ‘Thare Rahiyo’ are so popular till date that it is difficult to believe that they were composed more than 5 decades back. But their popularity did overshadow a beautiful gem that qualifies as its ‘Anmol Ratna’. Can you guess the song ? Watch the episode to find and confirm.
