When you’re spiritually awakened, you know it. Suddenly, everything stops. You were lost in the House of Horrors for so long you don’t even remember going to the fair. At last, a door opens and you walk out into the pine-scented air, under a luminous canopy of stars. To awaken is to laugh at your own joke and enjoy your own dance. It’s to go back to being the One that is All. The volume of life gets turned down to zero. All things move in this supreme silence, in a state of grace. There’s no separation anywhere. There is - I’m sorry - no free will. The body ticks along exactly as designed. The mind no longer arises but rests in the heart. Like Dorothy, you realize “there’s no place like home.” You know there’s nothing out there for you. Infinite peace lives forever in the heart. It’s always there, but the mind gets distracted and fails to notice it. Enlightenment is obvious and natural. Non-enlightenment is the wonder of wonders: it’s like holding a blade of grass in front of your eye and blocking out the Himalayas. If this word ‘spirituality’ comes to your mind often then this automatically means that your spiritual journey has started or you have become spiritually awaken. People in western countries have made their own definitions of spiritual awakening but in my opinion this is the simplest definition of spiritual awakening. When one’s mind starts thinking beyond physical and material pleasures it means he/she is getting ready to walk onto the path of spirituality. What distance one will travel from here in one’s lifetime will depend upon his/her actions and intensity of his/her efforts. Mother Nature guides us at each and every point in our lives through Her mediums, whether we understand those messages and correct our actions or simply ignore them is our decision. In my journey, I was living a life full of material pleasures until one fine day a chance meeting with an old teacher of mine changed my life forever. From that day onwards this quest for spirituality became the only goal of my life. I devoted myself completely at the feet of my first Guru and learnt my first lessons on God. However this association didn't last long and we parted ways. Those days were full of restlessness but Maa again intervened and accidental meeting with my Mentor happened during a drinking session. I asked my Mentor to become my Guru but He flatly refused. But He agreed that he finds me worthy enough in next five years time, He’ll make me meet my Guru. When I started losing patience after years in waiting, Maa again helped and made me meet my Guru. Baba blessed me but didn't say anything about my deeksha. When I asked specifically then He only said, not now, wait… And this wait lasted nine years. So, in my life, I got three chances and I made full use of those three chances. The first path was not right for me but Maa then showed me the right path. In my opinion this is about devotion. If you have devotion then even if you make one or two wrong decisions, the Nature corrects you and shows you the right path. All theses years I spent with my Mentor before my meeting with my Guru actually prepared me for this eventuality. I am forever indebted to Him for making me worthy of my Guru. The years I spent between my first meeting with my Guru and the day of my deeksha were also the preparation of this bliss. ......... My suggestion is, that day is today, tomorrow never comes, take your chances, never miss an opportunity, who knows whether you will get another chance or not.
