Buddhist Proverbs, Quotes, and Teachings
The term "Buddha" (or "Awakened One") refers to the Indian spiritual seeker Siddhartha Gautama, who reached enlightenment more than 2,600 years ago. The four noble truths and the eightfold path, two of the Buddha's most well-known teachings, outline the causes of human suffering as well as a road to nirvana and freedom from existential sorrow. From India, these teachings spread to Asia and subsequently the rest of the world.
