Nazi war criminals are sentenced to death at the Nuremberg Trials - Daily Mail |

Photographs have emerged showing Nazi generals, admirals and field marshals (pictured bottom) being kept at British POW camp Island Farm in Bridgend ahead of the Nuremberg trials. They included many of Hitler's key aides, such as First World War veteran Gerd von Rundstedt (pictured top being saluted by fellow prisoners), the commander-in-chief of the German Army in Western Europe, who was respected by British and German troops alike for his military service, although he was accused of committing war crimes in Ukraine. Island Farm was also the scene of the 'Forgotten Great Escape' on March 10, 1945, when 86 prisoners got out through a 70ft tunnel dug under Hut 9, the only surviving building at the site today. The collection of photographs and official documents will now go on auction and could fetch around £5,000.
