R. S. Keshavamurthy (1903 - 1982), is an exponent of "Mysore-Bani" - the Mysore-style of Veena playing. R K Srinivasa Murthy traces his lineage through Bhakshi Veena Subbanna (1854 - 1939) - one of the two important torch-bearers of the Mysore-Bani (the other being Veena Seshanna). The recording was obtained and edited from a tape recording made at the concert. Evidently, the tape recorder did not fully cooperate in creating a noise-free recording. A good bit of noise and distortion could not be edited out without affecting the quality of the music. |
