How Social Media Manipulates Your Psychology | Naiya Livingston | TEDxYouth@UpperStClair |
|
Social media is growing exponentially not only in the United States, but worldwide. Today, social media plays a major role in our society. Inspired by the Social Dilemma documentary on Netflix, Naiya Livingston dives into how we are addicted to social media, and how social media uses that addiction to manipulate our psychology and ultimately control our lives. This documentary allowed her to understand why people get so addicted to social media so easily and how it can directly harm their mental health. As a creative, young, and curious learner, Naiya decided to dive deeper into the “evil” side of social media, and what she found was astonishing. She decided to share her research, opinions, and thoughts about social media manipulation in her talk. Naiya is passionate about leadership, communication, and artistry. She is on track to pursue a Business Management degree at Indiana University of Bloomington through the Kelley School of Business and Hutton Honors College. Naiya hopes that her findings will encourage others to take a step back and reflect on their own social media usage. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
