Exploring identity in Cambodian songs | Euan Gray | TEDxRUPP

video thumbnail
Songwriting is a playground for exploring identity. Drawing on his work with Cambodian artists, Euan discusses the many different expressions of Cambodian identity, including his own. Euan Gray is a professional musician, producer, and music coach who sees music as a way to strengthen and enable people, including himself. He has lived in Cambodia for over a decade, performing hundreds of concerts and producing many songs with emerging Cambodian artists. A co-founder of Songkites, and now the Music Director of The Sound Initiative, he is passionate about exploring music and songwriting's role in personal development. His greatest challenge, and therefore often his greatest reward, is singing Khmer songs - an emergent skill he hopes will bring him closer to Cambodian people and culture. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
