Hey friends, we visited Morocco for the first time and absolutely fell in love. We visited the Atlas Mountains and Marrakech for a work content trip and some exploring. Here are the places we stayed, restaurants we tried out (and loved) and places we visited. We would definitely recommend adding Morocco to your travel bucket list!

*MOROCCO TRAVEL TIPS:*
1. Get a SIM card with internet data on arrival at Marrakech Menara airport. Data is super expensive (for UK phone providers anyway) so a a SIM card is essential for map navigation and staying online.
2. Consider hiring a guide when exploring Marrakech old town (the medina). The winding streets of the medina can be quite overwhelming and it's easy to get lost. is Our host kindly gave us a tour and showed us how to get around along with giving us a few tips for example not accepting directions from strangers and not taking pictures of merchandise in the medina.
3. For women - make sure shoulders and knees are covered especially in the medina where the dress code norms are more conservative. For evening I wore dresses with a blazer or jacket and was happy to show my shoulders in restaurants, Marrakech does have a vibrant night life side to it, so it's normal to dress up when going out to restaurants and bars in the Newtown part of Marrakech.
4. Be prepared for a long wait at the airport when arriving at Marrakech Menara airport. They carry out extensive checks of passports so the process of getting off the plane, border control and then collecting our suitcases was lengthy, it took approximately 1.5 hours in total which is far longer than what we are used to! The same goes for leaving Marrakech, arrive at the airport at least 2.5 hours before your flight departure, the airport process was far longer than other places we have visited. Side note - drones are not allowed in Morocco.
5. Booking restaurants - we recommend booking restaurants for dinner especially if there are specific restaurants you would like to visit. The best places to eat get booked up quickly, we booked our restaurants 1 week to 5 days in advance.
6. Currency - change or spend your Moroccan dirhams before you leave the country, as it’s a closed currency, you’re not able to take it out of the country and if you do it will be extremely difficult to change it or spend it once you leave.
7. Taxis - when you need to get a taxi always ask a local/ your host/ your hotel how much the journey should approximately cost so that you can make sure you’re getting a fair price when negotiating prices with taxi drivers.
