Protesters in Yemen, Iraq and Jordan demonstrated in their respective countries on Monday (January 23) against a Koran-burning incident in Sweden.
The Koran-burning was carried out by Rasmus Paludan, leader of Danish far-right political party Hard Line, during a protest in Stockholm on Saturday (January 21) against Turkey and against Sweden's bid to join NATO.

In Jordan on Monday, protesters burned the Swedish flag in front of the embassy, in response. Thousands of protesters rallied in the streets of Yemen, while demonstrators also gathered outside the Swedish consulate in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Turkey’s president said Monday Sweden shouldn’t expect support for its NATO membership bid following weekend protests in Stockholm by an anti-Islam activist and pro-Kurdish groups.
