Masters athlete Lynne Knapman is more than just a mother, grandmother, and high-school math teacher.
Knapman is a three-time Regional competitor with team CrossFit Active and has 10 Games appearances under her belt. She was the fittest Australian in her age group in the Open (Women 55-59) for four consecutive years (2015-2018) and took first place in the Open in the Masters 60-64 division in 2020. “I have no athletic background whatsoever.” Knapman says she draws her inspiration from coach and three-time Games athlete Chad Mackay. “I wouldn’t do any of it without him. … He’s the inspiration. He’s taught me everything. I’m only going for as long as he goes. When he decides he’s had enough of me, that’ll be it.” This year, Knapman is competing in the AGOQ with the intention of earning a spot at the 2021 CrossFit Games.
