Thanks to the efforts of organisations like the DNA Doe Project, as well as advancements in forensic technology and the ever-increasing popularity of genealogy sites, now more than ever we are seeing decades-old cold cases finally see a resolution. In 2022, we saw the identification of Joseph Zarelli, formerly known as the Boy in the Box, one of the most well-known John Doe cases in the US. Though the circumstances of Joseph’s death are still unclear, it seems that answers are not as far away in such cases as they once used to be.
