Why we need to think beyond reducing food waste | Jessica Li | TEDxOsloMet

A third of the food we produce is thrown away. Eliminating food waste would allow us to feed an extra 2 billion people, we would be able to entirely offset the carbon footprint of India, and the food industry would be able to recover over a trillion dollars. But according to food-tech entrepreneur Jessica Li, most of today's food waste solutions are simply addressing symptoms instead of targeting the root cause. In this engaging conversation about food waste, Jessica explores how we can reduce food waste in a way that's better for the environment, better for the economy, and better for society. Jessica Li is the co-founder and CEO of Savvie, a Norwegian tech-startup with its roots at OsloMets’ Gründergarasjen. She has degrees from the University of Michigan and the Norwegian School of Economics. In her talk at TEDxOsloMet 2021, she will challenge us to re-examine our understanding of food waste, and to rethink the way we resolve the problem by proposing a systems-oriented approach. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
