Didrik Marksten (NOR) surprised everbody when he won a World Cup giantslalom in St. Gervais, France just before 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville. Norwegian came 2nd in the first run with bib 39 just behind Alberto Tomba, but in the 2nd run he managed to beat the famous Italian who went on to win gold in Albertville in this discipline.
