Why Mental Health Deserves More Than a Week | Fiana Yeh | TEDxMoreauCatholicHS |
|
Millions of people are affected by mental illness across the U.S. every year, so why is there still a stigma surrounding mental health? Previously impacted by an accumulation of stress, anxiety, and depression, Fiana aims to highlight the significance of mental health education. With empathy, individuals can move past "Mental Health Week," to being mindful every day and treating mental health as equivalent to physical health. Fiana Yeh is currently a senior at Moreau Catholic High School. She is active on campus as the founder and president of the Taiwanese Club and a member of Honors Dance. After graduation, Fiana plans on pursuing a degree in Psychology. Through sharing her journey of poor mental health and recovery, she hopes to open up the conversation regarding mental health, encouraging destigmatization and emphasizing the importance of the healing process. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
