Nivedya, the vice president of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and Dibya Jyoti, vice-president of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) were among the several students detained from Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia university after the SFI planned to screen the controversial BBC documentary titled 'India: The Modi Question' which recounts the events of the 2002 riots in Gujarat.
