Sainik School Bijapur: 13 Sept 2014: Sainik School Bijapur is celebrating 51st Founding Day on Tuesday, 16 Sep, 2014 at the premises of the school.
A number of programmes will be organized during this celebration. On the eve of the founding day on Monday, 15 Sep 2014, there are fascinating displays and variety entertainment programmes to showcase the activities of the school and expose the latent talents of the cadets. The displays include mass PT, gymnastics, karate, aerobics, vaulting horse jump, lezim and band display in the afternoon and cultural programme in the evening. On the Founding day on Tuesday, 16 Sep 2014, the felicitation and prize distribution ceremony will be followed by the anniversary cake cutting function. Air Marshal Ramesh Rai, VM, Air Officer Commanding In Chief, Training Command, Indian Air Force, Bangalore will be the Hon’ble Chief Guest on the occasion. After the arrival of the Chief Guest, wreath laying ceremony will be held at the Smarak Sthal. The Chief Guest will also visit various school facilities including school stable, swimming pool complex and gymnasium and address the Special assembly being held on the occasion. Sainik School Bijapur has completed fifty years of its existence. During its glorious five decades it has emerged as one of the best schools in the country as it has maintained its records in academics as well as sports. The school has registered outstanding results in Class X and XII CBSE board. Its achievement is noteworthy especially in Class X as ten of the cadets secured 10 CGPA. In sports too Sainik School Bijapur has maintained its supremacy by winning the prestigious Hockey trophy in the South Zone Inter Sainik Schools tournament. The cadets of the school also brought laurels to the school in many other fields. In divisional level Philately quiz competition held at Gulbarga, Sainik School Bijapur emerged the winner. The school also participated in the Philately exhibition and won the second runner up trophy in school category. Sainik School Bijapur won both first and second positions in the Interschool chess tournament held at Daffodils School Bijapur recently. The cadets also brought laurels to the school by emerging the winner in the Patriotic Song competition organized by Shishuniketan at Bijapur on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of the school. The school has well-equipped and spacious classrooms and laboratories. It also has the state-of-the-art language lab and IT lab equipped with the latest gadgets required for teaching. In order to keep pace with today’s globalization and technological changes in education, the school has enabled digital teaching and learning process in the classroom to make the teaching-learning process engaging and interesting. In addition to the excellent infrastructure for academic training, the school has a number of playgrounds and playfields for various sports. There are a number of activities conducted for the overall development of the personality. Cross country, obstacle race and gymnastics are part of the extra-curricular activities conducted in the school. Cadets also undergo adventure training like parasailing, rock climbing and trekking. Yoga has also become regular feature in the training regimen. Recently boxing and karate have been introduced in order to instill fighting spirit in them. During the last five decades of its existence, Sainik School Bijapur has striven hard to achieve the aims and objectives set for the institution. Besides serving as the feeder institution to the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, the school has also contributed immensely to nation building as its alumni are providing quality leadership in the fields of civil services, medicine, engineering etc. The school is proud for being the ‘alma mater’ of many military leaders as well as several distinguished citizens in various other walks of life.
