Earlier we released about two cases of Air India where female passengers became a victim of accused who allegedly peed at them. The first case happened on 26th November 2022 and no action was taken. However, in the second case which happened on 6th December, the woman and man landed on a mutual resolution after the man apologized in writing to the woman and the woman decided not to file a complaint against the man. On a New York-Delhi Air India flight on 26th November, 34-year-old Shankar Mishra allegedly unzipped his pants and urinated with an elderly woman in the business class. He later begged the woman not to report him to the police, saying it would impact his wife and child.

However, now the Mumbai based Shankar Mishra was arrested late on 6th January 2023 by the Delhi police from Bengaluru and was brought back to Delhi. A Delhi court later sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. Shankar Mishra was on the run and a lookout notice and airport alert was put out to trace him. The Delhi police had deployed a team in Bengaluru to catch Shankar Mishra after getting some strong sources of him being there. Though he switched off his phone, he was using his social media accounts to communicate with his friends, which helped police to trace him. Shankar Mishra had also used his credit/debit card too which again helped police in finding him out. However, Shankar Mishra's lawyers claimed he had exchanged messages with the woman who filed the complaint, and even paid her ₹ 15,000 as compensation, and got her belongings cleaned. The woman's daughter had reportedly returned the money after a month, saying they couldn't accept it.

Moreover, the accused used to work in an American financial services company named Wells Fargo as Vice-President, India. And after his deeds were brought into public, Mishra's employer also terminated him from the job saying the allegations were deeply disturbing. Air India officials and the crew of the flight have been asked to explain their handling of the incident after it went viral on the internet. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has now warned of strict action if airline staff fail to act against passengers who are unruly or behave inappropriately during the flight.
