This is an ASMR reading of Village Diary by Miss Read. Dora Jessie Saint MBE (17 April 1913 – 7 April 2012), née Shafe, best known by the pen name Miss Read, was an English novelist, by profession a schoolmistress. Her pseudonym was derived from her mother's maiden name. She is best known for two series of novels set in the British countryside – the Fairacre novels and the Thrush Green novels. This excerpt is from the former series.

Here in the first section, the first fog of the winter descends on the valley and the cat Tibby is doted on by the children. They are forced to stay indoors playing jigsaw puzzles and listening to the BBC Radio programme, ‘Listen with Mother’. In the second selection, we witness a scene set in the winter twilight, with snow falling fast and “the lane to Fairacre (looking) unbelievably lovely, the banks smooth as linen sheets ….”
