The selection panel that will interview and eventually nominate candidates to take up key positions in the new body that will manage Kenya's electoral processes has received a total of 431 applications for the 9 positions of commissioners, including the chairperson. The full list of applicants and their qualifications appears in today's print media. After the vetting process, the panel will forward 3 names to President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for appointment to the position of chairman of the independent electoral and boundaries commission, IEBC, while another 13 names will be recommended to fill up the 8 positions of commissioners.
