This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. This talk will take you along for a 28,000 km/hour ride aboard the Soyuz and the International Space Station. With a log of 188 days in space and 7 hours and 11 minutes of spacewalk time, Dan Burbank will teach us about cutting edge science and technology development underway on the International Space Station and how it keeps spaceflight crews healthy and safe while paving the way for advancements in medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, environmental protection and a host of other areas.

Dan Burbank is a NASA astronaut and the current Director of NASA operations in Star City, Russia. He has a background in Electrical Engineering and Aeronautical Science, and has been on a total of three space missions- two shuttle flights and a Russian Soyuz expedition in 2011. He has worked on over 200 experiments in space, researching human physiology, fluid and combustion physics, Earth and space science and technology development. He passionately believes that research in space is paving the way for human development on Earth.
