Undefeated 20 year old Saul āCaneloā Alvarez takes on the seasoned 39 year old former IBF Light Welterweight Champion Lovemore NāDou aka āThe Black Pantherā in the 2nd defense of his WBC Silver Light Middleweight Title which he won via TKO6 over Luciano Leonel Cuello back in July 2010. In September of the same year, he made his 1st successful defense of the title via KO9 over Carlos Baldomir. Prefight records; Alvarez 34(26)-0-1, N'dou 48(31)-11-2. This was perhaps the biggest test at this point for the Guadalajaran youngster as he was up against a 17 year veteran whoās pro career began back in April 1993. NāDou had many experiences competing at top level having fought and lost to the likes of Kermit Cintron, Junior Witter, Sharmba Mitchell, Miguel Cotto & Paulie Malignaggi (2x). From the opening till the final bell, NāDou simply had no answers to the speed, skills, defense and most of all the youth of Canelo who utterly dominated the action with little to no troubles. However, the seasoned South African warrior displayed incomparable toughness and a cast iron jaw as he took punishment upstairs and downstairs from pillar to post but was never hurt in 36 minutes of action. The 3 judges scored a lopsided UD12 with scores of 119-108 & 120-109 (2x) for Alvarez who retained his WBC Silver Light Middleweight Championship as well as his unblemished record. After the loss, The Black Panther went 1-1 and retired in 2012 with a final record of 49(31)-13-2 . Lovemore NāDou was never knocked out in 64 total fights in a career that spanned nearly 20 years. Following this victory, Saul won his 1st world title in his next bout where he overwhelmed Ricky Hattonās kid brother āMagicā Matthew to garner the vacant WBC World Super Welterweight Title via UD12. As of January 2021, Canelo Alvarez at 30 years of age had won world titles in 4 different weight classes; Light Middleweight, Middleweight, Super Middleweight & Light Heavyweight since his pro debut that dated back to October 2005 when he was only 15 years old. To date, he hold notable wins over Alfredo Angulo, Amir Khan, Kermit Cintron, Liam Smith, Austin Trout, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Erislandy Lara, Carlos Baldomir, Lovemore N' Dou, James Kirkland, Shane Mosley, Josesito Lopez, Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Daniel Jacobs & most recently Callum Smith.
