If War Thunder's Centurion was historically accurate |
|
The A41 / FV4007 Centurion Universal Tank was a design that aimed to fix the numerous issues with WWII British armor, namely a lack of reliability, firepower, and armor protection. Originally armed with a QF 17 Pounder and 20mm Polsten cannon, a few models were shipped to units seeing action in Europe. Though they had some very minor technical hiccups, the Centurion was quickly put into production, but with the 20mm Polsten removed in favor of a 7.92mm BESA machine gun. The Centurion's Meteor engine was reliable, though the Centurion did lack in range and sheer speed. The Centurion would be an extremely prolific and successful tank, seeing combat in a wide variety of conflicts.
