Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf has died at the age of 79. Pakistan media reports said he died in hospital in Dubai on February 5, 2023, after a long illness and years of self-imposed exile. Musharraf ruled Pakistan for nearly a decade after taking over in a bloodless coup in 1999. He fled the country in 2008 after his party lost Pakistan’s first democratic election in 11 years.
