Donald Trump’s lawyers plan to resume their cross-examination of the Republican presidential candidate’s ex-fixer Michael Cohen on Thursday, aiming to undermine his testimony that Trump was intimately involved in buying a porn star’s silence over an alleged sexual encounter.
Cohen, 57, who served as Trump’s personal lawyer for over a decade, testified this week that Trump ordered him to pay Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 to protect Trump’s presidential campaign.
Trump has pleaded not guilty and denies having a sexual encounter. The New York case, one of four criminal prosecutions he faces, may be the only one with a jury verdict before his Nov. 5 election rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden.

Donald Trump’s criminal hush-money trial enters its 16th day on Monday in New York with the potential for bombshell testimony as his former fixer turned prosecution witness, Michael Cohen, is expected to take the stand.
Cohen is core to the case against Trump, as he is accused of shuttling $130,000 to the adult film actor Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 election – in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump 10 years prior.
Prosecutors contend that Trump’s repayment of Cohen in 2017 was criminal, in that he listed the reimbursements as legal expenses in financial documents. Indeed, Trump is charged with felony falsification of business records.
Donald Trump called the judge at his trial a "disgrace" after a second mistrial bid by his lawyers failed. It followed a dramatic day in court during which a witness was left in tears and porn star Stormy Daniels questioned again. Evidence also shed light on how Trump's White House worked.
The prosecution alleges that Trump, Cohen and the longtime tabloid honcho David Pecker met at Trump Tower in summer 2015, shortly after the real estate magnate announced his presidential candidacy. Pecker testified in court that he had vowed to give them a warning about any damaging information about Trump.
