Do you live in a house or a flat? Whatâs your favourite room? Is there anything you want to change about that room? ANSWERS and COMMENTS This is a transitionary time for me = a time of change I would say my favourite room is the living space đA nice way to give an opinion Itâs filled with personal mementos = personal souvenirs It would be really nice, if this room opened up into the kitchen đNice use of conditional for a change you want to make Because I have a toddler itâs nice to keep an eye on him = "a âtoddlerâ is a young child / âkeep an eye on = look after and watch carefully" Part 1 Topic - Pets QUESTIONS Do you have a pet? Do you like animals? Did you have a pet as a child? ANSWERS and COMMENTS I do, in fact I have two pets, I have two cats đGood way to clarify and give more information One is a black cat with some white markings = shapes or patterns on the surface (of the fur) I do like animals, but I donât like the upkeep of animals = the process of giving them what they need (used for animals, people and buildings) Itâs not always nice to have to do the daily upkeep đnotice the repeated use of âupkeepâ but with a new collocation - âdo the daily upkeepâ I had a few pets but the main pet that I had was a cat, a Siamese cat named Dodger who in fact lived for 18 years and passed away just two years ago đGood use of relative clauses make complex sentences showing off good range of grammar Passed away = died Part 1 Topic - Rubbish QUESTIONS What do people usually do with rubbish in your country? What do you think when you see rubbish on the roads? Do you ever recycled paper and plastic? ANSWERS and COMMENTS Itâs becoming more popular to recycleâŚthings that can be recycledâŚif the recycling is actually being recycled đNotice that although Vanessa repeats the word ârecycledâ, she is using it in different forms, showings can use it flexibly Some people feel sceptical and donât even recycle = Have doubts about something, donât fully believe it Itâs kind of mind-blowing to me = Extremely surprising Itâs a no-brainer, of course I will pick up my trash = An easy decision to make, or simple question to answer Part 2 Topic - CUE CARD Describe a friend or a person who encouraged you to achieve a goal. You should say: â Who this person is â What this person encouraged you to do â How this person helped you And explain why this encouragement help you to achieve the goal ANSWERS and COMMENTS I dropped out of the class = Stopped attending a class She helped me to really start from the beginning, step by step = One step at a time I caught on a little bit more = Understood She gave me a wonderful idea which was to become an au pair = Live with a family in a foreign country to learn the language, and look after the children She helped me to sign up, create a profile.. đNotice with the second verb (create), we can leave out the the infinitive âtoâ of the verb (help). This omission of the âtoâ is common in natural speech. ***** đ 25% OFF my online IELTS Speaking GOLD course: https://keithspeakingacademy.com/ielts-band7-gold-yt ***** đGet get a complete Mock IELTS Test.
