University of California, Berkeley Hackathon Event and Conference - Ripple Drop: Episode 16 |
|
This episode of The Ripple Drop features discussions from Xpring’s Interoperability Hackathon and the inaugural UBRI Connect conference, both held at the University of California, Berkeley.
At the Interoperability Hackathon, SVP of Xpring Ethan Beard explains how the new developer tools on their platform help remove the pain and friction from integrating money and payment transfer into apps. Winners of the hackathon, Ayoush Aggarwal and Eric Hou, built a payment transfer solution that leverages QR codes and the power of Interledger to send money and avoid the friction they experienced using popular apps like Venmo. The two share how and why they decided to build this app. Finally at the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) Connect conference, UBRI participants from around the world share their research and discuss new projects being started in blockchain, digital assets and FinTech. Senior Manager of University Partnerships Lauren Weymouth talks about how the event came at the request of the Initiative’s participants who wanted to connect and learn what other schools were working on.
