A Week in the Life of a Home-Educated Teenager! [CC]

video thumbnail
Well this is something different eh! If you didn't know, I'm home-educated, and I really want to start making videos about it here on my YouTube channel. (in case anyone was wondering yes the Robert Frost vids will be continuing until I cover all 20 of my A Level poems) As I said in the video, loads of people seem to be curious about home-education, but very few have any concept of what a general day of home-schooling looks like. Hopefully this video is informative for anyone wondering how on earth home-education works. Oh, and, to reiterate another thing I said in the video - this is by no means what every home-schooler's life is like (we're a motley bunch) but I hope it's insightful all the same.

I tried my best to make this as short as possible but at the same time I didn't want to sacrifice authenticity (hence the crazy mood swings stayed in haha). If you watched through all 43 minutes, thank you so much! As you can tell by how long ago this week was, this video took a lot of work to edit and honestly I'm really nervous about putting it up on YouTube. But I definitely want to keep improving my video-making skills so let me know what you thought of it down in the comments! Just please don't be mean... or actually, you know what, go ahead. I just so happened to GET AN OFFER FROM MY TOP UNIVERSITY TODAY (!!?!??!!!!?!!!!) so honestly... couldn't care less bruh. :D

Also before anyone mentions it yes, apparently a week is five days now. I usually don't study on the weekends and I knew the video would become even more ridiculously long if I included two more days, so I decided to just cover my "school" days.

*Update* This video now has subtitles! Hope they're OK. :)

The noodle salad I had on Friday was loosely based on the first recipe in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYNJpV7ezys&t=145s The main thing I changed is to add black olives. I know peanut and olive sounds disgusting but it's actually a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN guys it's sooo good. Let me know if you try the recipe!

*Video deets*
Camera: Sony HDR-CX405 9.2 MP Full HD Camcorder (definitely recommend for amateur film-makers)
Editing software: Windows Movie Maker
Narration software: Auxiliary and a microphone I got from the Disney Sing It Wii Game :D no lie
Music: Shot Down by Josh Woodward: https://www.joshwoodward.com/ (srsly check this guy out he's FANTASTIC)
Thumbnail software: Picmaker (pretty good free website)

My next home-ed video is I think going to be about taking GCSEs from home - how it works, how it compares to doing it at school, how I studied, where I took the exams, my tips, all that stuff. I also want to do a video answering frequently asked questions about home-education, so if there's anything at all you're curious about, leave me a comment and I might use it in the video! Even if I don't, I'll definitely reply to the comment and try to answer as best I can.

Just realised I'm writing all this as if I'm the only person in the world who's home-educated or something and everyone else is totally clueless about it. Home-schooled hommies, where u at? I'd love to hear how your style of home-education differs from mine.

Thanks for watching, see you in the next one! :)
