The idea that “reality TV” isn’t always based in reality is nothing new. For years, reality TV shows have employed a technique known as soft-scripting, which is when non-actors are put into situations that have been planned ahead of time. That fight on The Hills? The huge haul on Storage Wars? Chances are, the show’s producers are behind it.

And while we expect that our favorite Housewife might be exaggerating a personality trait here and there, what we don’t expect is for her to be outright faking the way she speaks.
