History of the Inca Empire – expansion until the Spanish conquest |
|
Short documentary about the expansion of the Incan Empire until it became the largest empire in pre-Columbian America, and how it was conquered by the Spanish. The Inca people were a pastoral tribe in the Cusco area around the 12th century, when Manco Cápac founded the kingdom. The expansion began in 1438 under the rule of Pachacuti-Cusi Yupanqui and his son Tupac Yupanqui. Other important rulers were Túpac Inca Yupanqui and Huayna Cápac. At it's height, the Inca empire included Peru and Bolivia, with Altiplano, most of what is now Ecuador and a large portion of what is today Chile, north of the Maule River.
Spanish conquistadors led by Francisco Pizarro conquered the Inca Empire and took Atahualpa, the last sovereign emperor hostage. Atahualpa's brother Manco Inca Yupanqui retreated to the mountains of Vilcabamba and established the small Neo-Inca State, where he and his successors ruled for another 36 years. ------------------------------------------ Voice & editing: Nicolae Bondar (myself) Music: Running Waters Full Band by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/ Information Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inca_Empire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quechuan_languages https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hu%C3%A1scar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atahualpa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_conquest_of_Peru https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Pizarro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Inca_State We can stay in touch on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HistoryClassPage/ You can support our channel here: https://www.patreon.com/historyclass1 For every video I try to use copyright free images.
