Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber again dissolved the country's parliament. Unspecified portions of the constitution been suspended as well, says Kuwait Emir. He put the suspension at 'a period of no more than four years,' without elaborating. In April this year, Kuwait held national elections for the fourth time in as many years. Analysts say domestic political disputes have been gripping the oil-rich nation for years. Immense wealth from oil, but little in the coffers to pay bloated public sector salaries. Pertinent to note, the small country has the world’s sixth-largest known oil reserves. It has been a staunch U.S. ally since the 1991 Gulf War expelled Iraqi forces of Saddam Hussein. Kuwait hosts 13,000+ American troops & forward headquarters of U.S. Army in the Middle East. The nation's democratically elected parliament exerts some checks on the ruling family. The ruling family nevertheless appoints the govt and can dissolve the Assembly at will
