Chimpanzee Alice with baby chimp Annie one day after giving birth
Alice still has an unusually large oestrus swelling the day after giving birth to baby chimp Annie. This was recorded in 2019 on Chimp Island at Chester Zoo
Alice is filmed in this #shortsvideo with a large oestrus swelling
The swelling has since reduced in size significantly and Alice is back to normal but with some loose skin remaining from the considerable stretching during the swelling. Annie is growing up fast and mother and daughter are doing well

There are currently as of 2023, 23 chimps in the chimp troop at Chester Zoo consisting of 8 Males and 15 Females The oldest is Boris at 56 years old Born 1966 and the youngest is Jeff at 1 Month old Born December 2022

Most of the chimps at Chester Zoo, have appeared in the popular nature documentary series, shown on TV called The Secret Life Of The Zoo.
This animal documentary series was first aired on TV in 2016 and has run for 10 seasons from 2016 - 2021
