Filmmaker Clement Virgo has a vision of his country that he’d like to share with you. It’s the vision he sees on the subway everyday — one of diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. For Virgo, Canada is a place where you can arrive from anywhere and take part in the changing definition of what it means to be Canadian.

In this video made by the animators Polyester Studio, you’ll hear a passionate excerpt from an interview conducted with the director at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Virgo’s groundbreaking debut feature, Rude, will play on December 15 as part of the Black Star Canada series.
