Session by John Stinson

So you've reached a good understanding of Python, you've done on-line tutorials like the ones at tutorialspoint.com or learnpython.org and you're keen to take it further. Perhaps you want to learn some techniques that will help with your data processing before you apply machine learning, Or perhaps you are just the kind of person who prefers to write an algorithm to solve Sudokus, as opposed to solving them individually. This session will provide an introduction to CodinGame.com. CodinGame is an on-line platform, with a built-in IDE. It lets you solve puzzles using Python (or virtually any other language if you're a full-stack developer). They start from an easy level of difficulty, moving on to quite difficult challenges. Once you are confident with the basics, you can move on to take part in quarterly coding competitions that have thousands of competitors, or quick 'Clash of Code' events which run every two minutes, have up to 8 competitors, and last between 5 minutes and 15 minutes. The platform is also used for hiring, and your company can either set challenges on the platform as a way of recruiting developers, or you can express your interest in being contacted by companies once you reach a certain level.

Before taking part in this session, why not sign-up for CodingGame.com and try the simple 'On-Boarding' exercise. You will be guided through every step and get an idea of how the platform works.
