Frank Reich Has 'Troubling' Admission About Panthers Ownership
CAMERON FLYNNOCT 10, 2023 The Carolina Panthers are the only remaining winless team in the NFL this season. After falling to 0-5 on Sunday with a 42-24 loss to Detroit, head coach Frank Reich addressed the media Monday and answered a few questions about the Panthers' rough start. At one point during the conversation, however, Reich was asked to comment on the team's ownership. His response is raising a few eyebrows. "There's different philosophies in ownership," Reich began. "Some owners kinda stay away and don't engage a whole lot, other owners do. [David Tepper's] philosophy is he's going to engage." Reich also went on to admit that while his short time working with Carolina ownership has been a "good experience," it certainly hasn't been fun. "It's only been a short experience, but it's been a really good experience," Reich shared. "It hasn't been fun, it's not fun. Those meetings, I wouldn't characterize them as fun meetings." ADVERTISING Reich's admission, though somewhat concerning, isn't enough to suggest any real 'beef' between he and Panthers ownership. With that said, though, NFL fans were quick to read between the lines as to what Tepper "engaging" with the team truly means. "Reich just came out and said it. Holy smokes. If you’re Bryce Young — and your coach essentially just implied they wanted Stroud — how do you have ANY confidence moving forward? Brutal," Brett wrote. "Imagine ownership interference caused you to lose out on a franchise QB. I’d be livid," one fan wrote. "This was painful to watch because it isn’t the first time I’ve heard him say this. It’s an open secret in the league that the owner heavily influenced the QB choice, which is never ideal," Stephen said. CAROLINA PANTHERS |
