(Steven Spielberg, Director) ''I think I’m always vulnerable in terms of the movies I make, but this is a very personal story” Steven Spielberg premiered his semi-autobiographical movie, 'The Fabelmans' The film follows the fictional character Sammy Fabelman who is loosely based on Spielberg as a young man as he fosters a love for film and discovers a dark family secret “It’s the first time I’ve taken privacy public, I’ve never done that, you don’t see me doing that a lot all my life, and this was a story that I thought had some merit - about my mum and my dad and my sisters - formative years growing up in three states, and Tony Kushner kind of prodded me years ago into starting to take these stories I was telling him a little more seriously, so we started working together about three years ago and now we’re going to introduce people to a family called 'The Fabelmans'.'' Michelle Williams plays Mitzi Fabelman, Sammy’s mother (Michelle Williams, Actor) ''Well it’s a Steven Spielberg movie and, you know, they are all so cinematic, he’s a movie lover, they're made for movie screens, they’re made for moviegoers and, and it’s a beautiful thing, it’s a really beautiful celebration, it’s a fun thing to see with a lot of people.'' (Steven Spielberg, Director) I think everybody everywhere with siblings, with parents, with problems at school, with a passion and a hobby, something that becomes a career, so I think there’s a lot of universal truths in the story we’re telling.'' |
