America 6.0 | Kevin Klinkenberg | TEDxCreativeCoast |
|
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Remembering our roots as a social being means asking questions about how we live amongst one another. Kevin Klinkenberg discusses cities as personality types, which determines how their people live and interact.
For twenty years, Kevin has worked as an urban designer, using the various skills of design, planning and zoning to create walkable communities. He's worked for developers, cities and not-for-profits in 27 states to create environments that are sustainable and sociable. Since coming to Savannah in 2010, he's written a book, "Why I Walk," (available in July) and started Share Savannah, a car sharing company. Kevin loves to talk about anything related to cities, design and planning and to speculate on the future. He also has a lot of fun playing bar trivia with his lovely wife, Jamie. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) |
