In January 2020, we were invited by the Fukushima prefecture to a "Samurai Spirit Tour" in Aizuwakamatsu. Organized by the Samurai Spirit Tourism program and Kendo World (Alexander Bennett), this monitor tour aims at promoting the ancient samurai culture of the region.

For a few days, a group of a 15 foreigners discovered the Samurai way of life and history through different unique experiences such as a visit of the Nisshinkan Samurai School (the largest and most renowned samurai school in the Edo period), a lecture on the Aizu domain history by Alexander Bennett, a visit at the Byakkotai graves (a group of teenage samurai of the Aizu Domain, who fought in the Boshin War), several Kendo training sessions (at the Aizu Butokuden in front of the castle), the visit of a traditional Samurai house, and more.

The Seido team was there to record and help promote this initiative through Youtube videos.
This one, first of the series, highlights the tour in its globality. The rest of the series will give you much more in-depth insights on the Samurai Spirit of the Fukushima region.
