Due to the 50/50 divide in the Senate and the increasingly partisan nature of our government, many people have thrown around the term “filibuster” in regards to the unofficial senate rule that allows for unlimited debate. Despite the social activism regarding this controversial rule, I have noticed that most fail to truly understand the concept of the filibuster. This inspired my talk, Green Eggs and Ham, in which I plan to explain the history, technicalities, and functions behind the filibuster. I’m Diego and I’m a junior at Jenks High School! I’m captain of one of our Mock Trial teams, co-founder/president of the Jenks Young Voters League, a member of the International Scholars Program, and I will be senior class treasurer! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
