While Japanese Shorinji Kempo was only founded in 1947, its roots go all the way back to ancient China and Shaolin Temple. An important aspect of training is paired practice where opponents go through attack and defense drills to sharpen technique. It can be very dynamic. We shot this demonstration at the headquarters or Hombu Dojo of Shorinji Kempo in Todatsu on the island of Shikoku, Japan.
