With a similar price point ($1,000 to $1,500) and many common features, it can be tough for the discerning consumer to choose between the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and the ProForm Pro 2000 treadmills.

We’ve determined that the NordicTrack 1750 is a better buy, however, because of its slightly larger motor, more durable belt and greater versatility—features that may explain why this treadmill is the highest-selling on the market.

It’s hard to go wrong with either of these powerful and sturdy machines, though. And while prices fluctuate, the Pro 2000 tends to run about $200 less than the NordicTrack 1750. With this in mind, a thorough point-by-point comparison is in order.

Both models have a 300-pound weight capacity, 12 mph maximum speed, a 22” wide by 60” long running surface, and an incline range of -3% to 15%. This last attribute is great for people who live in flat areas looking to train in running hills. Both machines also carry identical warranty plans: lifetime frame, deck and motor; 5 years for parts; and 2 years for labor.

The NordicTrack 1750 and the Pro 2000 both offer pulse grip. They also have chest strap heart rate monitoring, a method we find more reliable than handle heart rate monitors. You can get the accurate readings you need with the NordicTrack 1750’s iFit chest strap and the Pro 2000’s Polar chest strap.

These two machines differ in some noticeable ways, however.

The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has a 2-ply belt while the ProForm Pro 2000 has a 1-ply belt. A 1-ply belt is liable to wear out more quickly than a 2-ply, so the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 can better withstand the wear and tear of multiple regular users.

There’s another important difference between these two treadmills. To paraphrase an old saying, what a difference a point makes. The NordicTrack 1750 has a 3.5 CHP motor while the Pro 2000 has a 3.5 CHP motor. The NordicTrack 1750’s slightly larger motor size can tip the scales in its favor if you’re using it for regular training and need a strong motor to keep up with you.

Another difference is a matter of comfort, which is important when you’re putting your body through challenging paces. The ProForm Pro 2000 has two fans while the NordicTrack 1750 has three fans. Along with being greater in number, the NordicTrack 1750’s fans are more powerful. It’s an undeniably “cool” feature.

Both treadmills aim to keep your workout varied rather than tedious by offering a large number of programs. The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 wins by a nose on this one, however, with 38 available programs as opposed to the ProForm Pro 2000’s 32 programs.

If you’ve succumbed to the “tiny house” craze, you may want to look beyond these two machines for something more compact, because both of them are relatively bulky.

The ProForm Pro 2000 is 70” tall, 77.2” long and 39.5” wide, while the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is 61” tall, 72.25” long and 38” wide. Doing the math, however, the NordicTrack 1750 has a slightly smaller footprint, which can make all the difference when finding a place to squeeze in your work out. Both machines have hydraulic systems that make it easy for a single user to raise and lower the treadmill deck.

Our final assessment is that both the ProForm Pro 2000 and the NordicTrack 1750 are quality machines that can match the most serious trainer stride-for-stride. Overall, however, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 gets our stamp of approval.
