The Multilateral Cybersecurity Action Committee: Pursuing a Safer Digital World |
|
The litany of failures in Cyber Security Systems over the last six months — Solar Winds, Microsoft Email, Colonial Pipeline, Ireland Health Care System — cries out for urgent, sustained, concerted international action. The combination of nation state, criminal and hacktivist threats has escalated as our reliance on digital technology has become ubiquitous in our lives.
Actions such as the Solarium Report, the recent American executive order, the European proposal for directives on network and information systems security and the resilience of critical entities, and the creation of a Japanese Digital Agency are steps in the right direction. To achieve results they need to be better coordinated, involve the private sector more closely and make the difficult transition from proposals to proven capacity. In this event, Admiral Dennis Blair, Secretary Michael Chertoff and Arthur Coviello will discuss current cyber challenges and how the newly launched MCAC will help address them. --------------------------------------------- A nonpartisan institution, CSIS is the top national security think tank in the world.
