|
The cost of making a pancake has risen by 3% in the last year, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Ahead of Pancake Tuesday, the CSO delved into the cost of flour, eggs and milk for prospective pancake makers around the country comparing prices before Christmas last year with December 2022. It found the average price of a 2kg bag of self-raising flour has increased by 10% from €2.39 to €2.62 and the price of six large eggs rose by 3% from €2.16 to €2.21. However, the average price of two litres of full-fat milk decreased 3% from €2.26 to €2.18. Add on a little sugar before you eat them and the cost goes up again.
