Critical illness psychologist, Dr. Brittany Clayborne offers us a journey of self-exploration as she reveals the ultimate secret of mental evolution. In this talk, the mother, heart transplant recipient, and cancer survivor chronicles various experiences sharing intimate glimpses of her death, what she uncovered to help her learn to live again, and how anyone can apply these discoveries to awaken their own inner strength. Dr. Brittany Clayborne has the mind of a doctor and the heart of a patient. Her life journey is a testament to the tenacity of intent.

She is a stage four cancer survivor and heart transplant recipient who earned her master’s degree during a 9-month hospital stay as she waited to receive a donor heart. Later, she earned a Doctorate of Psychology while undergoing aggressive cancer treatments.

Dr. Brittany is Chair of the Patient Committee for the Heart Failure Society of America and a fierce advocate -- and educator -- for organ donation. But the most important role Dr. Brittany plays is that of Micah’s mom. Together, they support the emotional and psychological health of kids and adults through their non-profits, Brittany Speaks and Micah Gives.

You can connect with her on social media @drbrittanyspeaks. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
