A future star was welcomed in spring of 1986. When she turned 11, the whole family moved to New York, where Leighton got an opportunity to work as a model, participating in various campaigns.
Her path in the filmmaking world started in 1999 when she appeared on a big screen for the first time in Law & Order. The mother Constance is a writer. She and her ex-spouse had legal issues with drug trafficking and both were sentenced to prison where Leighton was born. Despite the fact that Constance did her best to help the daughter in her career, they are not really on good terms. The actress accused her mother of misusing the money she gave her to pay for her brother's medical expenses. However, the mother used it for plastic surgery and beauty procedures. In return, Constance filed a 3 million countersuit.

The movie star has two siblings. Douglas Jr. was born in 1983 and he is a president of Waterline Companies. In 2003 he was accused of raping a female cadet at the Air Force Academy. He was found guilty and paid 2000 dollars fine.

The second brother is named Alexander and he drew his first breath in 1994. As a teen he tried his hand in acting and had several roles in TV projects. Then he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and after a few surgeries he was declared disabled. Leighton loves her brother a lot and even wanted to take custody of him following the scandal with her mother.

As for the actress’ personal life, she had been in a relationship with a film performer Sebastian Stan since 2008 till 2010. The union lasted two years after which they called it quits.

In 2014 the movie star walked down the aisle with a TV star Adam Brody. They got to know each other in 2010 and kept their romantic feelings under the radar. In 2013 the two lovebirds got engaged and the next year tied the knot in a low-key ceremony.

The pair’s firstborn is a daughter Arlo, who was welcomed in 2015. Meester enjoys motherhood, even though it is one of the hardest jobs.

In March 2020 it was announced that the couple is expecting a second child. Leighton was seen walking in LA with a growing baby bump.
