Hello kids : GlobalShiksha brings to you the first video in a series of general knowledge videos. It contains exciting fun facts to learn about. This video talks about the few tallest buildings in the world that are already constructed and few buildings that are under construction and will surpass the height of the current tallest buildings in the world.

Number 1, Burj Khalifa.

With a total height of 829.8 meters that is 2,722 feet, the Burj Khalifa has been the tallest structure and building in the world since the year 2008. Situated in Dubai UAE, the building is 162 storeys high. Construction of the tower was started in 2004 and was officially opened for public on 4 January 2010.

Number Two, The Shanghai Tower.

Shanghai Tower is in the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone of Pudong. The tower ranks as China's tallest building and world's second only to the Burj Khalifa. It has a height of 632 meters that is 2,073 ft and has 127 floors, with 5 additional floors, below ground. The building has the world's fastest elevators at a top speed of 74 kilometers per hour and was Designed by international design firm Gensler. It is owned by the Shanghai City Government.

Number three, The Abraj Al Bait.

Abraj Al-Bait or the Towers of the House of God, the Kaaba, is a government-owned complex of seven skyscraper hotels in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The central hotel tower, the Makkah Royal Clock Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, has the world's largest clock face and is the third-tallest building and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world with a height of 601 meters. Interestingly, It is the world's most expensive building with the total cost of construction equalling 15 billion US Dollars.

Number 4, The Ping An International Finance Centre.

also known as the Ping An IFC is 599 meters, 115 storey skyscraper located in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It was completed in 2017, which made it the tallest building in Shenzhen, the 2nd tallest building in China and the 4th tallest building in the world.

But this list is not going to be the same in the coming years. We'll have two inclusions in this list of top 5 tallest building by Two thousand twenty-one.

The first is, The Jeddah Tower.

This skyscraper is likely to be the first to break the one-kilometer mark, not merely because it's already under construction and supported by the deep pockets of billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, but because it was designed by Adrian Smith who is also the designer of Burj Khalifa and the Hancock tower in Chicago.

Its height is expected to be 3,281 feet or a whopping 1000 meters and estimated to be completed in 2021.

Finally, we have the Wuhan Greenland Center.

Wuhan Greenland Center is one more project from Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture. Once completed, it will stand tall at 2087 feet which is 636 meters and will be the second tallest building after the Burj Khalifa in 2019.
