The Chevrolet Cruze SW is based on the same underpinnings as the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer and uses the same engines, too. It's arguably the best looking member of the Cruze family and goes head-to-head with models like the Volkswagen Golf Estate and the Hyundai i30 Tourer. There's a choice of engines but we'd recommend going for the 1.7-litre VCDi because it's well priced, efficient and feels punchy on the road. Admittedly it's not as spacious as other estate models in this class but you do get plenty of standard equipment for your money and you'll rarely miss the boot space you sacrifice by going for the SW over a VW Golf Estate, for example.
